RE: Class C with Hybrid Bunk end?

Lance makes a truck camper with one, but I have never seen or read about a class C with one.

RE: Contact with Gulf Stream??

Wow. I have never had to contact GS directly, my dealer has taken care of everything for me. Is your BT in the shop at your dealer's? I found this e-mail address on their website - service@gulfstreamcoach.com.

RE: What to expect when buying a RV

It really depends on your dealer. Some dealers don't add anything extra, some make sure you pull off the lot with everything you need to get started. If you are anywhere near Virginia, I recommend grandviewtrailersales.com - I searched VA and all border states and found GTS to be the absolute best, and I can honestly say their post-sale service has been even better than their pre-sale service!
Be sure to check what is included with your unit from the factory like sink covers, etc. The things you mentioned are added by the dealer. Folks will say the dealer covers them with a markup, but I ended up getting a better deal than I could find anywhere else on the exact same model AND those things were added in.
You will want to do a pre delivery inspection. Make sure all of the drawers and doors fit right - once you pull off of the lot, those little things are your responsibility. Make sure all of the appliances start up. You will want full propane tanks as well (provided by GTS). Make sure your unit has been unwinterized and the water system has been tested. Check under cabinets and such for leaks.
The only thing I had to pay extra for was the Aero-flow vent covers I had my dealer install.
Good luck to you!

RE: Ordering a Travel Trailer

I ordered mine and got a great price. My dealer said he knew it was sold so he could give me the best deal. There were a few things that changed between the floor plan I agreed to and my actual unit. If I did it again, I would ask more questions about the impact of some of my upgrades. For example, I ordered a front queen instead of bunk/dinette and that required that they move the hot water heater and that changed the location of my outdoor shower.

RE: Camping near blue ridge pky

Try Misty Mountain in Greenwood, VA. It's east of the north end point (Afton Mt) of the Parkway - http://www.mistycamp.com/

RE: How big of a generator to run my trailer

Do you have 30A or 50A service to your trailer? Watts (how generators are rated) = V (110 V is household voltage) * A (30 or 50). I use a ponytail to connect my 30 A service to a Honda EU2000i through the 110V outlet. I can run everything but the compressor on my AC. This is fine as I only use it November - March.

RE: Best Starting Point on the Blue Ridge Parkway

The Skyline Drive (through the Shenandoah National Park) and the Blue Ridge Parkway are two different things (both maintained by the National Park Service) but they do come together at the top of Afton Mountain at Exit 99 in I-64 -- I live at the foot of Afton Mountain and my deck looks out to this juncture.
You can find out about both at http://www.nps.gov/state/va/
Specifically, closure information can be found at

RE: Honda EU2000i extended run time gas tank

I wouldn't say I have air tight connections, but I did use a primer bulb. I crank up the generator (with a full tank of gas), hit the primer bulb a few times after it has been running for 30 minutes or so and then never have to deal with it until the generator tank and my 6 gallon marine tank are empty...am I just lucky or is the primer bulb magic?

RE: Winterizing

I have a park trailer that stays on-site all year. Here's what I do:
-weekend before...wash the awning, roof, and sides of the trailer good
-clean out/defrost the fridge
-wash everything down inside, leaving the windows open to dry things up
-winterize the water system
-put Dri-Z-Air systems in each sink
-close all of the windows and vents
-bring in the slides
-unplug the 12v system (otherwise the propane alarm will drain it)
-cover with Tyvek cover
Check in 6 weeks, empty Dri-Z-Airs (outside).
Check again a few weeks before the season starts.
Pretty much undo the above list in reverse order!

RE: First Year Seasonal

I have had a seasonal site for 16 years and have used it more in the past three years than ever before! In fact, we love camping so much now we bought an "off season" camper as well. We leave our park trailer parked but will go camping a couple of times this winter in our old class C...
